Item details Vintage from the 1900’s Materials Jade, rosewood, brass, silk This Auction is for an antique Asian/Chinese Rosewood jewelry box with eight floral White Nephrite Jade panels of gem quality, four on the front & two on each side. There are three drawers each lined with green silk floral, each drawer has a brass hinged handle, one drawer is missing along with the bottom drawer silk tray. There is the number 38 engraved on the bottom drawer and on one of the bottom feet. Artemisia leaves make for the brass handles on the front. Brass accents on all four corners top and bottom engraved with designs. There is a brass handle on top. The brass lock is missing. This is a well made Rosewood Jewelry Box. Dovetail construction. This is a very nice Jewelry box and cheese n good overall shape considering its age. It is solid Rosewood, not veneer and will be double boxed for shipment due to the weight to prevent damage in shipment. This is not a music box. In 1955, 17 handicraftsmen were organized into a jade carving cooperative, which expanded and turned into a state-owned factory with more than 400 workers in 1958.
