Antique tureen made by Ginori in the mid 19th century, white porcelain, hand decorated in gold. A pomegranate on the lid, which brings luck and prosperity.
Ginori porcelain has been one of the most prestigious European manfacturers of porcelain. Its story began in Docci, two steps away from Florence. Inspired by his passion for white gold, Marquis Carlo Andrea Ginori founded a porcelain factory destined to become a world icon of style.
The descendants of Carlo Ginori continued to be the owners and direct it until 1896, when the merger with the Soc. La Cermica Richard of Milan took place: the production expanded and the Richard Ginori Ceramic Company was born.
The green GINORI logo, in upper case letters, like the one on the tureen (see photos) was in use before the merger.
Mouth diameter: 21.5 cm, including handles: 28.5 cm.
Height excluding lid: 17.2 cm, including lid: 29 cm (approx.)
