Georges De Feure - Pitcher vase made of glass paste from the Art Nouveau period
Vase signed by Georges De Feure made of glass paste subtly coloured in two shades: orange and green. This handmade work in the shape of a pitcher is rich in texture in the glass but also in colours with different reflections. Placing this vase in light allows one to truly realise the quality of the piece. Georges Joseph van Sluijters is his real name, George de Faure is of Dutch origin on his father’s side and Belgian on his mother’s. Thanks to his fame, he was entrusted with making the facade of the “pavillon de l'Art nouveau” at the universal Exhibition in 1900 held in Paris. Note a repair on the interior of the vase (see photo 7). Signature on the bottom.
